System RequirementsOperating SystemGEM was designed and developed under WindowsXP. It will run quite happily with every version of Windows from Windows 2000 onwards, including Windows Vista - both 32bit and 64bit. (We have also had it running under Windows 95 and 98. However if you have a machine that old, it is unlikely to have the horse-power required.)We also have users running the system quite hapily on an Apple Mac using OS X and a suitable Windows emulator, such as VMware Fusion. We do not test the system on a MAC however. But it seems to run quite well. It is up to you to test that it works to your satisfaction during the 30 day free trial. SoftwareGEM has been designed to use the services of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word - any version. It will work with any MAPI email client and Word Processor. However some functionality will be lost - most noticably the ability to create individual documents from Word Templates. If you don't have Microsoft Word you can still create individual documents from templates, but the process is more cumbersome as it has to be done using mail-merge - even if you only want to send a single email, fax ot letter. (With MS Word, GEM opens Word and effectively types the document for you.) HardwarePentium III or later, 300Mb Hard Drive space. Min of 256Mb RAM for WIndows 2000, 500 Mb for Windows XP, 1 Gb for Windows Vista - more if you want to run multiple applications simultaneously.Internet ConnectionAn internet connection is required to activate GEM. If you do not have an internet connection, you will not be able to use GEM. A broadband connection will be required to make On-Line Support feasible - so that you can let us see what you are doing wherever you are. This is not feasible over a 56K mode. |
